Splitting a PDF without uploading it
Splitting can expose more than you expect: a single PDF may hold payroll details, medical results or a client's whole contract. Upload-based splitters add another copy of that file on someone else's server. Zashify reads the document in your browser's memory, extracts the pages you named, and writes the new files locally — the original never leaves your device and is never modified.
Splitting modes explained
- One file per page: every page becomes its own small PDF — useful when each page is a separate certificate, ticket or voucher.
- Page range: keep a continuous run of pages, such as pages 3-7, in one file.
- Custom list: enter a comma-separated selection like 2, 9, 14 to pull scattered pages into one document.
When to split instead of sending the whole file
- A form asks for one specific page — send just that page.
- You need to share one exhibit from a large file without the rest.
- Different recipients need different chapters — split once, send each part.
- A scanner produced a mixed stack — separate the sections afterwards.
Getting the page numbers right
Page numbers follow the PDF's own numbering, which may differ from the printed page numbers if the document has a cover or roman-numeral front matter. If a range comes out wrong, split again with adjusted numbers — you can repeat the split as many times as you like.
What splitting does not change
Splitting copies pages between PDFs without rendering them. Text stays selectable, images stay at full resolution, and pages keep their size and orientation. Quality is identical in every output file.
